Dumfries and Galloway is home to many friendly, historic towns and villages which are all unique in their own way. Dumfries is the largest town in the region and is host to many historical sites, such as the monastery where Robert the Bruce killed the Red Colmyn, or the school attended by J.M Barrie.
For those interested in nature, there are many gardens open to the public, including Threave Gardens, Drumlanrig Castle or Logan Botanical Gardens. Caerlaverock Castle is home to the Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust, which is dedicated to protecting the natural environment of wildlife.
